GOLF COSTA ADEJE: TECHNICAL CARD

Designed by the internationally recognised Spanish architect José Gancedo, this course opened its doors in October 1998, and was designed taking advantage of its natural resources. The entire round is defined by small plateaus delimited by over 5.000 meters of stone walls, which used to delimit the former banana plantation areas in which the terrain was divided back in those days. These have been restored to sum up the unique enclave of this golf course.
The round consists of 18 holes formed by 6pars 5, 6 pars 5 and 6 pars 4 with a slope index of 128 from white, 126 from yellow and 128 from red. The course has a high value given by the golf players, for the idiosyncrasy of its round and the spectacular environmental surroundings.
The Los Lagos Course, a round of 9 holes, is par 33 and here we want to highlight the lakes of the holes 5, 6, 7 and 8, which confer a special and different incentive. On this round, players with high handicaps (up to 45) are allowed, thus giving an opportunity to beginning golf players enabling them to improve their technique and initiate this wonderful sport.

This is the first golf course in Europe which grass variety is the Paspalum, which perfectly supports salty water, the available water of the island; the greens, of Bermuda tiff eagle, confer firmness and speed to the greens, a quality highly appreciated by golfers.
Along the round, one can enjoy the beauty of the indigenous flora, well taken care of, taking in account each plant’s specific necessity of watering, soil, etc.

You will find numerous palm trees like the Washingtonia filífera, “el Palmito”, with the cientific name of 'Chamaerops humilis' , the Canarian Palm tree “Palmera Canaria” or 'Phoenix canariensis', 'Phoenix theophrasti'  Areca, 'Dypsis lutescens', the Camaedorea, 'Chamaedorea elegans' and the Kentia, 'Howea forsteriana', “Coco Plumoso”, 'Syagrus romanzoffiana, etc.
The indigenous flora has been respected totally, like the “balos”, “cardones” (Euphorbia canariensis) , “tabaibas” (Euphorbia balsamifera), almácigos (Pistacia atlántica) and ornamental plants like the Argyranthemum frutescens, a bushy daisy plant with abundant flowering, the “siemprevivas” or houseleeks ‘Limonium arborescens’, etc.
The record of the course is –9 , a result obtained during the Spanish Open placed in April 2003 by the professional players Charl Schwartzel (SA), Marten Olander  (SWE), David Gilford  (ENG), Julien Clement (SWI) and the amateur record, 6- par,  which the player Larrazabal achieved during the Championship of Canary Amateur in the year 1999.
The course boasts a fleet of over 100 electronic buggies, equipped with GPS system.
